Five Ways To Capture Wedding Reception Memories

While your photographer should do a great job of capturing the key speeches and special moments, it’s the overall atmosphere and the events later in the reception, when your photographer has headed home for the night, that often get missed.

Wholesale Wedding Superstore has collected some quirky and fun ideas to create keepsakes of your special day using wholesale wedding accessories and wedding supplies you can pick up online.

  1. Gone are the days of disposable cameras on tables. Instead, the wedding guests will be more likely to use their mobile phones and send you the best shots via social media. So why not have some wedding selfie fun and set up a photo booth? Quirky props, funky frames, a light backdrop and a camera or phone on a tripod are all you need to persuade your guests to have fun in front of the lens. The result will be fun pictures and a great ice-breaker and time-filler for guests who are flagging.
  2. A guest book is a lovely way to create a keepsake of your wedding guests. Leave it on a table where people can pause and fill it in easily. Encourage them to offer advice, let them doodle, or prompt them with a question. Don’t forget to supply plenty of pens.
  3. Wish trees or wish bowls are a less formal alternative to the guest book. For a wish tree, arrange twigs or branches in a tall vase or jug and leave out luggage tag labels on which guests can write their good wishes or advice for the bride and groom. They then tie the wish label to create leaves on the wish tree. A wish bowl is filled with advice or good wishes written on paper or cards. After your wedding reception, you can gather the wishes together into a scrapbook or memory box.
  4. Keep a look out for affordable canvases or large-format cards or paper, and use these to capture your reception memories by creating a finger print image of your guests. Leave out a rainbow-coloured inkpad (or one that matches your chosen wedding colours) and sketch a simple outline drawing in the centre of your canvas or card. A tree is very effective. Then ask guests to leave a thumb-print leaf on your wedding tree, signing underneath. Remember to use washable ink, or your guests won’t thank you for it!
  5. For a permanent and useful memento of your wedding, invest in a large, white ceramic platter. Place the platter on a table with ceramic marker pens and ask guests to sign the platter. After the wedding, the platter can be heated in an oven and the signatures will remain in place forever. The finished platter will be a great keepsake, and it can be brought out for use on special occasions and at family gatherings.
